Interview With Blogger: Un Arc-En Vintage!

31 May 2012

I am very happy to introduce Leah over at Un Arc-En Vintage to my blog for an interview. Remember to go and check out her blog and maybe you could read the interview that I did for her while your over there!
Enjoy! :D

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your blog?

My name is Leah and I am a 14 (soon to be 15) year old fashion enthusiast, with a love for pretty vintage things, and clothes. I adore writing, and so when the opportunity arose to combine two loves of mine, I just had to start blogging. Un arc-en Vintage, brings together all of the things I adore in life, and it's amazing to be able to have it in one place. It consists mostly of outfit posts, occassional book reviews, random spur of the moment picture posts, and at the moment I have a few individual projects already in progress over at Un arc. The official name for my blog is Un arc-en Vintage (in english this means 'A vintage rainbow' ) and my blog url is .

2. Why did you start your blog?

I originally started blogging, because I fell in love with Cherry Healeys blog, and from that, a blog called Fatty Unbound. They combined all things I loved in life, and so it only seemed right to start my own blog. It took a while to get into at first, and I felt a bit too young to take it seriously, so my posts weren't very frequent. When I changed up my blog design, and figured out the real message I really wanted to put across, things started to take shape. For me blogging is all about having your little patch of internet, and it's the greatest feeling in the world to know that what your writing, is being read by real people.

3. How did you think of the name for your blog?

At first, my blog started as 'TGI Blogday', and then changed to RollerBlades and Vintage Grenades, when I realised I wanted a blog that consisted mainly of fashion. But, after a while, the novelty of a rather intriguing name wore off, and I wanted something more simple. And so I fell into Un arc-en Vintage, after experimenting with a 'rainbow' theme, on google translate. I love my blogs name, and I'm happy that for the time being, it brings across the message of my blog content well. :D

4. What is the best and worst thing about blogging?

For me, the best thing is getting feedback from so many wonderful and inspirational people. I think as a person, I truly thrive when people appreciate what I'm doing, and to have people from all over the world, actually WANT to find and read my blog, is brilliant. It's a great feeling. As for the worst feeling, the only thing I can think of is not having anything to write about, which doesen't happen very often, and won't anytme soon (I HOPE! :D).

5. How long have you been blogging for?

Well, I think it all began August 2011, but it took a couple tries to really get into the flow of things, and when I officially changed things majorly on my blog, it was nearing the end of august, I think. It's funny, as I was counting how many months I had been blogging, and I think it's 10. I can't believe that, it's amazing seeing how much I've learnt from different bloggers, and how much of a part of my life is has become.

6. Who inspired you to start blogging?

Right at the beginning, I put it all down to Cherry Healey, who is a BBC 3 journalist, and has her own blog also. I love her programmes, and adored the fashion advice on her blog. On one of her programmes, a blog named Fatty Unbound was introduced, and it was after really falling in love with the blog scene, that I jumped aboard, and didn't look back. ;D

7. Top 5 bloggers, that reader just HAVE to check out.

OOH, you have put me right on the spot here. ;D Is it okay if I do 2 that are really 'blogfamous' as I call it, bloggers, and then 2 that are people sort of my age? I know it isn't 5, but I want it to be equal. :')

Scathingly Brilliant. This is one of my favourite blogs, created by Kate, I believe, and it is filled with vintage fashion, pink hair, and beehives! It is truly fabulishious, check it out Chica's!

WishWishWish. Created by Carrie, a blog that is also inspired by vintage, but in a completely different way. Her photographic skills rock, and her outfit posts, and country visits, make me uuber jealous. Somehow she always paints a beautiful picture of anywhere she goes. LOVE IT!

Ebony Black Lines of course, :D. So much effort is put into each post, and your stories are truly brilliant, girly!

Art for no sake. Fashion forward, positive, pixie crop rock chick who can put outfits together and rock charity chic, and makes me jealous of her uuber cool hair style.

8. What ambitions do you have for your blog in 2012?

I want to try and get into blogger sponsoring, but I'm not entirely sure how this works, and need to look into it. Also, I have a blog competition up my sleeve for when I hit 100 followers, and just want to keep you wonderful people reading. Let me know what you want to read about, and I'll see what I can do. :)

9. Who are your favourite authors and what books do you particularly like?

I love Cathy Cassidy, and girly novels, but as I'm getting older, I'm getting into more adult fashion novels. Everyone worth knowing is the next on my list that I need to get read. I'm interested in loads of genres, and won't pass up a Jacky Wilson book, as I used to love her when I was younger, and still do! Oh, and I ADORE The Twilight Saga, Stephanie Meyer is one of the best authors out there.

10. Do you think you are like any fictional characters?

Often I like to think I am, it's easier to get into a story that way. I suppose I'm a little clumsy like Bella in the Twilight saga, but that's about it really. I'm not a clear skinned beauty, or petite, or have a vamp and werewolf fighting over me on a day by day basis. :')

11. Do you like to read or daydream?

Of course? Doesen't everybody. Often I don't mean to, but I'll drift off while someone is talking to me, and alot of the time it is about books. It gives me time to think about nothing, which is the best thinking of all.

12. If you wrote a book someday, what do you think it would be about?

I love to see myself writing girly problem books, sort of like Cathy Cassidy, and I did have aspirations to be an author. It is something I'd love to go into, but I'm also a fashion addict, and would like to work on a fashion magazine such as Elle or Vogue. Anything involving writing, and I'll give it a go, but fashion is where my priority lies, I think.

13. Can you tell us the funniest story you have relating to your blog?

Eeeermmm, this is difficult. I often make really hillarious typing mistakes, that sound like gobbledegook, and that I have to change before I faint from embarrassment, but apart from that, I don't really know. There was one time where my brother wrote a pretend post for my blog, and I panicked because I thought everybody would have already read it, so that was rather funny. :D

14. What are your hopes and dreams you have for when you are older?

To be back in school full time, to get a job in the fashion industry, to own a sewing machine, to one day become as amazery a blogger as Kate from Scathingly brilliant, to own a vintage store, to travel the world, to marry and have happy, healthy children, to fall in love, to fall out of love and realise there is more to life than the male kind, to have a dream wedding, to create an etsy online store, to write a novel, to meet Matt Smith and Robert Pattinson, Taylor Launtner, and Kristen Stewart, to buy lots of pretty dresses, to move to Paris and ride a bicycle through beautiful blooming streets, to buy a house in London, to have someone buy flowers for me, and to read more! :D Alot of dreams, as you can see! ;D

The Random-est Question You've Ever Been Asked On Your Blog?
Eeeerrrrmmmmmmm, not really sure, to be honest. Probably something to do with the project style I did on my brother, that got a few questions.

Book or E-book?
REAL BOOKS ALL THE WAY! I like turning pages and the smell of new books, people. I do not want to live in a world where we don't appreciate a book handed down generations.

Reading Or Watching (films ect.)?
A bit of both. For me, I have to watch the films first, so that I can enjoy that. It's weird, but I'd hate to read a book, be uuberly impressed, and think I'm going to love the film, only to be dissappointed, because chunks of the movie were left out. I know, my brain has cruddy logic. :D

Writing Stories Or Blogging?
It used to be writing stories, but bloggin now I think.

Dogs Or Cats? Neither! Cats and Dogs!

Romance Or Adventure?
Something that combines both, like the Twilight Saga, or the choc box girls.

Classy Or Casual?
A mix, as long as I'm comfortable and I feel good about myself.

Who Would Play You In A Movie Of Your Life?
Miss. Piggy! Haahahaha, I don't really know. :'D

Sorry for the uuber long answers Jasmine, and thanks for letting me participate.
Lol no problem! The longer the better in my opinion!

Don't Forget To Smile!! :D xxx

I'm rubbish at dream casting too so forgive me if you've read the book and think my choices do not relate at all!

I couldn't really find any suitable pictures that really portrayed how I thought they looked but here goes!

Lina - Kathryn Worsham

Andruis - Leonardo DiCaprio

Jonas - Tommy Nelson

Please Follow me and remember to leave a comment so I can follow back!

Interview With Author Sarah Webb!

21 May 2012

Hey Everyone!
I was so happy to get an interview with Sarah Webb. She writes amazing books and if you haven't read any of them then go! You HAVE to read them!
Sarah writes books for teens and here I quiz her about her series called ''The Ask Amy Green Series''.
They are about a girl....called Amy....her Aunt ( who is actually really cool! ;) ) Called Clover....and...that's all I'm going to tell you! ;)
Lol If you want to find out more then you'll have to read the books won't you!
Haha I can guarantee you won't be let down!
Now..Onto the questions!

Welcome to EbonyBlackLines.  Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Sarah Webb. I'm an Irish writer and I live in Dublin with my family.
I write the Ask Amy Green series for girls. My websites are: or

Did you always love writing and reading?
Yes! I LOVE reading. And reading brought me to writing.

What inspired you to become a writer?
Books and reading. After reading brilliant books like Are You There, God, It's Me, Margaret? and Ballet Shoes and The Secret Garden I wanted to create my own stories.

What inspired you to write the Ask Amy Green Series?
My teenage self and also a lovely girl called Kate who I met on a school visit one day. She read some early chapters and made me finish the first book. I owe her a lot!

Who is you favourite character from that series?
Clover I think. And also Amy. Clover is so much fun to write, but I love Amy.
Sarah's new book in the Ask Amy Green series.

Which character out of all of your books do you think you are most alike?
Sylvie probably! And also Amy. I'm probably a mixture of the two. Sylvie is a writer, like me, with young children. Amy is very like me when I was 13.

Where do you usually write your books and why?
In my bedroom as there is no internet up there!

How often do you write and how much?
I write almost every day, depending on the week. I also do some other work, reviewing and programming a book festival - I like to be busy!

Can you share any tips or advice for our budding writers?
Read! Write! Never Give Up!

Lots of readers love writing and aspire to be writers one day, could you suggest a title or first line that they could turn into a story?
I think the best books or stories are drawn very strongly from your own feelings and your own experiences. And from a problem that your character is facing. So I would suggest:
One day I woke up and everything had changed . . .

Quick Fire Questions..

Reading or Writing? Both! Kit Or Seth? Seth (but I also love Kit!)

Indoors Or Outdoors? Outdoors, always. Sea, beaches, snow fields . . .

Paperback Or Hardback? Paperback - cheaper and easier to carry around.

Summer Or Winter? Summer for doing things outside; Winter for reading and watching movies.

Best, Sarah X

I Hope You Enjoyed The Interview!

Oooh! So many possibilities! I would actually agree to go ANYWHERE right now as exams have stolen upon me and the stress is doing my head in! I would actually absolutely LOVE to go to Australia. Well, The Gold Coast in particular because I have heard so much about it and the beaches sound Amazing, also the Aussie accent? Sheesh it's absolutely adorable!! I am a beachy girl and I love swimming but my dream is to learn how to surf. In my mind when I think of Australia; surfing always springs to mind, so yeah. Probably Australia so I can explore the beaches, learn to surf and then settle down to read on the golden sand, with the turquoise waves lapping up the beach; the sun soaking into me. << I would do anything to get a tan! ;)

This is my first time doing the Feature and Follow Friday so everybody! Feel free to follow, and remember to say 'Hi' in a comment so I know who's blogs to check out!

Au Revoir For Now! Xx
Also THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who commented on my previous post. I Love getting constructive criticism so Merci Beaucoup! YOU ROCK READERS!!!

Guest Post: Georgie from Art For No Sake!

03 May 2012

You might think that because I like fashion, I'm one of those girls who are so stylish and so popular that everyone loves them, all of them, right down to their sheeny-shiny hair.  Well, for the record, I'm not like them, because people, THEY DON'T EXIST!  (Shock!  Horror!  Cries of, "wait, Hollywood actresses don't exist?!")  See, if I'm honest, I'm a wee bit of a nerd.

If I'm honest with you - which I always am ;) - I'll admit that my favourite thing to do is to read and write.  And I am a firm believer that BOOKS ARE PRACTICALLY THE ULTIMATE ACCESSORY.  I mean, if you're carrying round a reeeeaaally pretty book and you just kind of, waft it out your bag, I guarantee you people always ask what book it is.  Or to read the blurb.  Or if you deliberately colour coded it to match your outfit (me inside my head: YES, OF COURSE I DID.  Me to the person: No, who would do that?!)

Once upon a time, when I had money - I'm very bad at saving, I'm more of a spend-all-in-one-go kinda gal - I'd spend it all on books, notepads and books.  No other option.  But nowadays, it's a bit of a toss up between vintage clothing and urm, BOOKS?  Just remember, guys and gals - one rule of book accessorizing is NEVER buy a bag unless it can fit at least one perfectly matching book.  And even better, three or four.

P.S. I tried counting the book shelves in our house, but it's more like a library than a home.

Thank you so much Georgie for this guest post! Much appreciated! :)

Don't Forget To Smile! :D xxx
