COLLECTIONS: FAVOURITE POSTS OF 2014

28 December 2014

When a year goes by and you are actually [at least slightly] proud of some of the posts you have written, then it calls for a post. I think this year has seen the most changes implemented on my blog. I got a new design thanks to Hazel and Nikki and I swayed in the direction of less book-review orientated posts, following a more creative front as a whole. Here are 20 of my favourite posts from this year; a random assortment of book reviews and other book-related subjects.

DOORSTEP DELIGHTS .7 | why did i choose this book haul out of all the others? because a. i got a truck-load of books for some magical reason that is currently unbeknownst to me due to it being months ago, and b. dash and lily's book of dares was fantastic. [as were pretty much all the other books].
A BOY CALLED HOPE | this review was written in probably about ten minutes yet it ended up being quoted on the book's amazon page! why am i not famous yet.                                                        UNHINGED | is definitely one of my favourite reviews this year because it was one of my favourite books of 2014, hence I spent a lot of effort on my review, and I think it turned out pretty well!
IF YOU FIND ME | another book that topped my favourites list this year that i implore everyone to read because it was just so darn beautiful.
HARRY POTTER: BOOKISH // V.II | why did i choose this post? excuse me? the clue is in the title.
WE WERE LIARS | messes with your head and makes you think you know what you're talking about when you try and guess what's happening, and then it slaps you in the face by proving you were talking complete garbage. it's great!
DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS | THIS BOOK HAVE YOU READ THIS SERIES YET I'VE BEEN TELLING YOU FOR AGES.
BOOK PALETTE: THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE // .01 | another book you must read. i feel like i've taken the place of a broken record but hey ho. i'll make an impression one day.
CODE NAME VERITY | i nearly cried. this tore my heart. it was a tremendous ride.
KERI SMITH COLLECTION | i picked this post mainly because i felt gratified, that my hours of work on a single prompt had not gone to waste and that i had actually inspired people. yeah i know. me. who'da thought.
DOORSTEP DELIGHTS .11 | signed rainbow rowell books people. signed!

GRAPHIC[LY] SPEAKING | THE NIGHT CIRCUS | yeah. you should read this.
WORDS + EMOTIONS = FEELS | because a bucket-full of gifs can put a smile on anyone's face. as can olaf.
WHAT TYPE OF READER ARE YOU? | the type that reads books? the same as everyone else? we don't discriminate. however you can hop on over to take in my amateur-ish graphic and decide through my opinions.
[TIPS. TRICKS & INSPIRATION] WRECK THIS JOURNAL | i inspired people again. i know. it's old hat now.
A SEA OF PAGES [THE NOVEL IDEA(s)] | that time i complained about writing, and people bemoaned the hard life with me.

BOOK PALETTE: ELEANOR AND PARK | is this another book i should read? you ask. well, why don't you just go ahead and guess what my answer may be.
DISCUSSION || BOOK HAULS | a discussion: when a person states personal opinions and counter opinions and elaborates upon them. a fabulous discussion: when a person includes a hunger games gif while exploring options on a particular subject.
A SATIRICAL EPIPHANY ON NOVEL WRITING | if you ever want to write a successful novel in your life, i'd advise you read this post. it's a magician's hat of advice. [and that didn't make sense..]
SINCE I'VE BEEN GONE / WRAP UP | is a cornucopia of well-concocted excuses for why i did not post much in the last couple of months. it also mentions my new favourite app: instagram. follow me.
lesson of 2014: there is never enough harry potter in a post. blogging resolutions for 2015: be more cynical and sarcastic, even if other people don't like it, i do. oh. and book push more. everyone needs a little nudge the right way whether they know they do or not.

  6. Oh my gosh, I clicked on your Doorstep Delights #7 post and WAS IMMEDIATELY HIT BY THE JEALOUSY BECAUSE THOSE BOOKS. That was one hell of a haul, Hawwa; I can see why it was one of your favorite posts! xD And whoa, one your reviews was quoted on Amazon's page -- SO KEWL. I know right, why aren't you famous yet. People should be lining up for your reviews like they do for Kirkus and SLJ. I'm still waiting for that one day when my blog will be quoted in a book too, lolz. #probablynotgonnahappen #butitsalwaysgoodtohoperight

And oops, I still haven't read Dreams of Gods & Monsters... or Days of Blood & Starlight yet, heh. I've just been drowning under my book slump and under the number of books I have to read. But I WILL READ IT. One day... *shifty eyes*

And, uh, I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I haven't read ANY of the posts you listed here -- and they were your favorites! Like, what kind of reader am I, right? D: I'll check some of them out when I have the time! Happy New Year, Hawwa, and wishing you all the best in 2015!!!
