Interview with Sophie: a day dreamer's world

07 July 2013

Today I have the lovely Sophie from over at A Day Dreamers World answering questions (a lot of them - i kind of went overboard!) so without further ado, here they are!
Hi Sophie! Would you like to introduce yourself and your awesome blog?
Hi! First up, thank you so much for interviewing me on your blog. I'm a 14 year-old booklover, and I also really enjoy writing. I love writing poetry and am always attempting to write a novel. I also really like listening to music, and am a huge fan of Imagine Dragons, watching Vlogs, baking cakes and drinking Hot Chocolate. My Blog is called A Day Dreamers World and is full of book reviews, interviews and other bookish ramblings.
How//Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I wanted somewhere to share my thoughts/opinions after a person in school mentioned she had Tumblr. I set up a Tumblr blog and a few days into it, I was scrolling through Twitter and I saw a link to a blog, but using the Blogger setup. I instantly wanted this more organised set up, and joined in! How it became a book blog I never know, but I've always loved books so that's probably why!
If you could have a fictional best friend, who would it be and why?
Katniss Everdeen! She was the first person who I thought of, and for the fact I loved how she fought for her mum and sister, and not for the way the Capitol wanted her to. Katniss would be able to teach me how to be an Archer, but would also be such a strong friend to have around.
If you were stranded on a desert island with only the basic food and water, but you were allowed to take 5 books, what would they be?
Geek Girl(Holly Smale), Beautiful Creatures(Kami Garcia and Margeret Stohl), Throne of Glass(Sarah. J Maas), The Selection(Kiera Cass)  and The Hunger Games(Suzanne Collins). I think I've got a good mix of feel-good books, to others I will never get bored of reading.
If you had the chance to be a fictional character for the day, who would it be and why?
Such a hard question! Lena Duchannes, I would love to be able to use her Caster Powers, control the weather, see Gatlin and walk hand-in-hand with Ethan Wate.
I think it’s a crime (haha), but have you ever seen the film before reading the book?
Looks like I'm going to get arrested!
I haven't read any of the Percy Jackson books but I saw the film a few weeks ago and loved it. The Chronicles of Narnia I also haven't read but the film is one of my favourites. I've heard that the Percy Jackson film isn't as good as the book, so I'm happy I saw the film and was able to enjoy it without the book.
You mentioned in one of your posts that you've received your first piece of American ''mail''. What was it and how did you 'come by it'?
You remembered? That is so nice of you, thank you! It was signed Sarah Crossan postcards from New Jersey. I saw a tweet about emailing for 'Book Swag' so that's what I did. I love Breathe, her novel, so if you haven't read it you should!
Love triangles...yes or no?
I'm leaning towards no, but at times I really love them. I'm a huge fan of many of them, but I like it when they're another plotline and the love-triangle isn't the only thing. I enjoyed Twilight, but as more and more of the books labelled 'the next Twilight' come out, I find love-triangles getting boring. But, as long as there is more to the book than this I'm normally OK. Other times I feel like crying at yet another one.
What would you say to someone who  told you they hated reading?
I would convince them to pick up one of my favourite books, and get them into reading! If they said no, I'd keep bugging them until they agreed.
Of all the books you’ve read, which setting has been your favourite?
Erilea in Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. It was so fully-realised, complicated but well-described and the settings were beautiful. I loved the book, but the world it was set in was incredible.
What is one of your pet peeves when it comes to books?
Difficult to say names! There have been many times where I have read a book, it's been released as a film, and I've had the shock and embarrassment of realising I've said it wrong.
What one book would you recommend to someone who doesn’t read?
The Hunger Games! Love, love, loved it and it reflects our world. There's a kick-but heroine, an important storyline, it's action-packed and emotional.
Have you ever met any authors before?
Kate Maryon, Bryce Thomas and Catherine Fisher but I'm going to Hay tomorrow and am hoping to meet more of my favourites. Hopefully!
Share some of your favourite blogs with us?
Most stunning book cover you’ve ever seen?
The Selection Or Pretty Girl Thirteen's,(Liz Coley)  and Small Blue Thing's(S.C Ransom)
