Blurb:
She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.
Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.
Her father was right. The monsters are real….
To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….
I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish
First of all, I'd like to say thank you so much to Hawwa for sending me this for review! Not only did she send me a great book, she gave away a gorgeous signed hardback. She's crazy, but awesome ;)
I have only read one book about zombies and it was okay. Not the best, but I didn't feel that connected to the genre enough to read more books about them. However, Alice in Zombieland has been on my wishlist for a while and definitely lived up to my expectations. The characters, story line, romance and writing is sprinkled onto the page in such a beautiful way - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book.
One of the highlights of the book for me was the characters. Alice, the main character, is a brilliant protagonist. She grieves the acceptable amount for the story to be realistic (and relatable) but still pushes on with her life and doesn't whimper in the corner. Yes, guys, this is another awesome kick-butt heroine to add to your list! The only other fairytale re-telling I have read is Cinder - and I loved it. Alice in Zombieland would have been hard to compete with it and although it didn't beat Cinder, it is still amazing. I love seeing the little relations to Alice in Wonderland - the white rabbit cloud, for example
Despite adoring this story, I did find some parts very slow paced. It was starting to get a bit repetitive with the zombie outbreaks so I wasn't as addicted as I'd hoped to be. This only lasted during the middle of the book though, so the ending was just as powerful as the beginning.
In conclusion, I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers and romances. And if you love reading books about zombies - what are you waiting for?! Read it!

I think my library has it, so now you've pretty much convinced me to read it. I love The Walking Dead so even though I haven't read any Zombie novels, I do love Zombies. Glad you enjoyed it!
