Blogoversary Celebrations: Interview with Rachel from Booktastic Reviews + Giveaway

23 February 2013

As I said yesterday, here is the first of five interviews ( with giveaways ) of my best blogging buddies. I hope you enjoy!
Here, you can get to know Rachel from Booktastic Reviews

Hi Rachel! *passes a cupcake* how are you? Would you like to introduce yourself and your awesome blog?
*squeals with delight while accepting cupcake* Hey there! I'm Rachel, the blogger behind Booktastic Reviews - a YA book blog which I started back in early October of 2010. On my blog you will find book reviews, author interviews, author guest posts, giveaways... and everything else in between! :D

Why did you start blogging?
Oh my gosh, I started blogging years ago! Before Booktastic Reviews, I had been the owner of many daily blogs (all at different times of course) and I think I would have been round about 10 years old when I had my first blog. It was all down to my friend, Cat - who you might know from Through A Cat's Eyes. We were in my house, we got bored, she showed me her own blog at that time then helped me set up one of my own. She recommended calling it The Mouse Hole... and so I didNow that I think about it, I really shouldn't have listened to her, haha. ;)

(haha cool name and yes I know her! I didn't realize you were friends. :) )

If you could have a fictional best friend, who would it be and why?
Probably Tris from Divergent. She has such an intriguing and admirable personality. She's brave, stubborn, head-strong... a little like me to be honest, so I think we could get along quite well... though we'd probably clash every now and then both of us being stubborn and all. ;) She could probably teach me a thing or two as well. Not to mention, she could introduce me to Four! ;D

(awesome choice. I think I would have picked her too!)

If you were stranded on a desert island with only the basic food and water, but you were allowed to take 5 books, what would they be?
Hmmm... if we were talking about any books, I'd probably take a mixture of already published and not-already-published books. Those would be: Divergent by Veronica Roth (it's like one of my favourite ever books so no way would I be leaving it behind!), Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare (not quite published yet but I'd try to sweet talk the publishers into giving me an early copy), Shades of Earth by Beth Revis (still to read this but it sounds EPIC!), one of the Harry Potter books (as long as I had Harry, Ron and Hermione by my side, everything would be alright!) and Fractured by Terri Terry (the first book was AMAZING so I would, yet again, have to sweet talk the publishers for the sequel)! ;)

(good idea!..And errm..yes..I think I've read Divergent about 10 times already!)

If you could meet anybody (dead or alive, fictional or real), whom would you meet and what would you say to them?
Oh, uhm, ehhhh, ahhhh, I don't know! I really don't know! :3 Maybe... Hermione from Harry Potter. The fictional Hermione anyway. I just loved her character growing up so I know I would just combust with excitement if she were to ever come to life! I'd probably be too much in shock to say anything worthwhile to her but if I could calm myself down enough I'd probably just have a normal conversation with her to see what she was really like. :)

(*squeals* Hermione!!!)

Love triangles...yes or no?
I'll have to be awkward here and say yes and no. If a love triangle is well developed then I'm all for it but if it isn't then I get really frustrated. I'm more yay than nay though and won't ever pass a book up due to a love triangle being involved! :D
Who is your favourite author and why?
I have so many! I might have to cheat since I can only narrow it down to five. Cassandra Clare, Terri Terry, Veronica Roth, Beth Revis and Ally Carter simply because I love their style of writing and the books they write! :)
Have you ever met any authors before?
Not really. My primary school did have one or two authors in at one point or another but I can't even remember who they were let alone what type of books they wrote. I do hope to go to a book signing one of these days though!
Share some of your favourite blogs with us?
Sure! There's Bookhi, Bookster Reviews, Booked Up!, Page-turner, Vivaciously Vivian, The Book Parade, A Reading Daydreamer and of course your blog, Ebony Black Lines! xD
Most stunning book cover you’ve ever seen?
Oh my! This is a hard question! There are just so many gorgeous covers out there... I think I'll have to go with The Selection by Kiera Cass. That cover is just breath-taking! :)

(I agree! I also love the cover of Black Heart Blue. The one with the girl and the umbrella.)

Quick Questions:

Cats or Dogs? Dogs!
Bad Boys or Good? (fictional of course!) Definitely bad boys! ;)
E-books or Physical copies? Physical copies!
Inside or Outside? Both!
British or American fictional boys? Oh no! Just 'cause Will Herondale's from London, I'll have to go British! ;D
And...
Delirium or Divergent? *drum roll* DIVERGENT! :D

Thank you Rachel!
And as you love Ally Carter like I do. Here's a chance to win..
*drum roll*

AMAZING giveaway once again! I've not read these books but they look fantastic! If they're just as good as the Gallagher Girls book then count me in! :P

And of course you would have to take Harry Potter :) And Clockwork Princess and Fractured are both books I'm super-excited for too! (I'm sure you'd be able to sweet-talk the publishers...) YAY!:D
