Interview with Emily from Emily's Chronicles!

28 October 2012

Today I have the lovely Emily, from Emily's Chronicles here to answer some questions. I hope you enjoy reading them! :)

How did you discover book blogging?
Well...I'm not technically a book blogger, as I blog about many things other than reviews, but the way I discovered blogging in general was through my good friend Rose. Check out her blog, Mad Roses And Oopsy Daises!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
I am short, I have long brown hair, I wear contact lenses, I'm a Christian, I'm obsessed with Ed Sheeran, I loooove clothes, shoes and prints, I do a lot of reading, writing, baking and fashion design, I hate ALL sports and I'm addicted to blogging! ~guilty face~ As for my blog...I have a crafty, booky, writingy type blog where I post recipes, stories, poems, book reviews and craft tutorials (among other things.) Check it out if you're AWESOME ! ~wink wink nudge nudge hint hint~

Who inspired you to start blogging?
As I said: it was my friend Rose :)

How did you think of the name for your blog?
I didn't. I came up with it when I was v.v.v.v tired and I've not worked out anything better since. Suggestions anyone??? ~grabs your arm desperately~

What's your favourite and least favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing is being able to share my ideas with the world and receive feedback on my stories - which would otherwise go unread! In fact, they would maybe go unwritten...things like blog competitions really inspire me to write! My least favourite thing is the monumental amount of time I spend on Blogger!

Do you think you are like any fictional characters?
Hermione is the one that springs to mind...

Do you like to read or daydream?
Both!! :D

If you wrote a book someday, what do you think it would be about?
Wow...I have no idea! The genres I tend to write are historical and fantasy, but past that I have no clue! It would entirely depend on what my brilliant idea was wouldn't it?!

Can you tell us the funniest story you have relating to your blog?
I don't think I really have one...

If you had one day to live, what would you do?
Pray and spend time with my family, friends and dogs I think...depressing question much!!

What are your top 5 favourite books?
Ah, the question every novel addict loathes! Now, because I'm just SUCH A REBEL I think I'll twist this question a bit and do five favourite books and five favourite series! Mwahaha!! This is in no order, by the way...

  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (eurhg I'm sorry..but I hated that book.. -.- )
  • How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
  • Coram Boy by Jamila Gavin
  • Solace of the Road by Siobhan Dowd
  • Girl With A Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier

and series...

  • Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
  • Gone series by Michael Grant
  • Nemesis series by Catherine MacPhail
  • Roman Mysteries series by Caroline Lawrence
  • Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy

If there was a sudden alien invasion, which book would you save and why?
Er...if this means, only one book can leave earth and every other will be destroyed and never replicated, then the Bible. If this means something to read on the spaceship...Coram Boy (I've not reread it in ages.) If this means that all my own books will be destroyed but they'll still exist in wherever we're going, my book that has my fashion designs in it (obviously it's the only copy!)...(I actually have no idea which it means so I'll let you have all those ''if'' answers...)

Favourite book characters?
Er...the entire cast of Harry Potter?! (And yes I know books don't have casts but I couldn't think of the right word!!)...(yeah...I see what you mean...I don't know either. *.* )

What are some of your favorite blogs to visit?

  • Life of an Awkward Donkey
  • Totally Neevie
  • Un Arc-en Vintage
  • Mad Roses and Oopsy Daisies
  • The Leaning Tower of Plot
  • The Totally Insane Writer
  • and of course...Ebony Black Lines!! (OF COURSE!..but wait! What about my equally amazing photography blog A Fairytale Of Photos ?!! )

Which movie that has been based on a book is your favourite?
The Devil Wears Prada!! I've never read the book, but I know it's based on one...

If you could meet any fictional character for a day, who would it be?
Oooooohhh...I don't know! Maybe...Dumbledore? Cassandra from I Capture the Castle? Perhaps Death from The Book Thief...or Max from The Book Thief...tricky question!

You read books, but do you write them?
I write, of course I do, but not quite books...the longest finished thing I've written is 20k. ~self-satisfied smile~. (I AM SO JEALOUS!)

What are your hobbies aside from reading and blogging?
Writing...baking...fashion design...hair, make-up and jewellery design...card-making...:D (Yay! *high fives*)

Who Would Play You In A Movie Of Your Life?
I can't think of any actress short and ugly enough...;) (ME?! I think I fit that description...small..ugly.. Yep that's me!)

Quick Questions:
  • E-book, audio-book or print? Print! Save the printed word! GRRRRRRRRRR I hate Kindles!!
  • Dogs or cats? Dogs, all the way!!
  • Inside or Outside? Inside :) I am the unadventurous type...
  • Romance or thriller? Oooohh...I would say...thriller? Neither is my favourite genre...
  • Favourite book cover? The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan ~swoons~ (well you know I wrote a review of that which you can check out..*hint hint*. click this linky thing. :) )

Thank you very much to Emily for answering all my random questions!

  5. If you liked the book cover Emily, you might like to know it was done by Oliver Jeffers (I recognised his style). He writes books too (and illustrates them), and is actually a really good author try his books ^^
